The LYC Classic Story… How It Started and the Woman Behind It

.
Lois Yee (Dec. 2003)

The LYC Classic story is about an incredible woman determined to succeed.  This desire and her search for a method to improve and revitalize the skin has been the motivating force behind the growth of LYC Classic.  She has spent the last 35 years developing and perfecting over 200 skin, hair and body care products along with designing state of the art salon equipment used by professional Estheticians and Cosmeticians throughout the world.

From the looks of Lois Yee’s beautiful, almost flawless skin at 82 years of age, one could believe that she has led a stress-free, charmed life.  Nothing could be further from the truth.  “Life” she says “has its hills and valleys and it’s how you meet the valleys that makes the difference.”

Born into a close knit, well-to-do Japanese family that had a large ranch near Fresno, California, Lois and her family were one of over 200,000 Americans of Japanese ancestry who were incarcerated in a Concentration Camp during World War II.  They were taken from their homes with only the clothes they stood in and a small bag containing precious personal items.  After a year in the camp, Lois was separated from her family and released. Being a determined young woman she journeyed eastward to Iowa and Ohio to continue her college education.  The experience in the Camp had a deep, lasting effect on her entire life.  To this day, Lois’ motivation in both her personal life and her business life is people, not possessions.

With the war behind her and a B.A. degree from College of the Pacific (now U.O.P.) in Stockton, California, Lois had a bright future ahead of her.  While at college she met Skipper Yee, her future husband.  Skipper had been left in the United States all alone at age 9 with relatives in Phoenix, Arizona.  After overcoming tremendous odds and again through a determination to succeed, he found himself after World War II at College of the Pacific under the G.I. Bill of Rights and was about to embark on an incredible journey with a remarkable woman.

In 1949, a marriage between a Japanese girl and a Chinese boy was enough to make the headlines in the local newspaper, “Racial Prejudice Loses to Cupid” read the headline.  Lois’ parents would not accept this marriage and did not attend the ceremony, but with unwavering optimism Lois knew she had done the right thing.

Fortunately, with Skipper’s determination and dynamic personality, he was able to win over Lois’ family (the Kanagawas).  Hard work and a passion for life has brought both of them through many tragedies and triumphs.

Working with and caring about people took them to the top in the marketing of various products, including the worldwide exclusive distribution of the Frantz Oil Filter, using an ordinary toilet tissue to filter the oil, and keeping it so clean that the crankcase oil never had to be drained.  At its peak the Frantz Oil Filter was achieving over $5 million in sales per year.

But Lois had a burning desire to develop a cosmetic company and in 1968 she began the process.  She started her corporation in 1971 with a group of essential skin care products that remains to this day as the core of her exclusive line.

David Yee

Her love for the beauty industry continued to grow as she gathered a team of highly trained chemists around her son, David, who had earned his B.A. from college in the field of Bio-Chemistry.  Together, they continued to enhance the line with additional superb products.

To further enhance her education about the care of the skin, she received her Esthetician’s License and in future years would return to school to train and inspire other Estheticians and Cosmetologists to obtain their licenses

Lois has studied extensively in the Orient, Europe and the North American Continent and has been trained by some of the world authorities in the use of acupressure points, herbs and techniques to restore the skin to a more healthy and youthful appearance.

In working with licensed skin care specialists throughout the United States, Lois, along with Victor’s help, began to design new, innovative professional salon equipment, in particular the now famous Facial Toning Machine.  Hundreds of these professional Facial Toning machines, selling for around $5,000 each, have been sold worldwide for use in salons, stretching from Beverly Hills to the elite salons of Europe.  Many of the customers of the spas pay upwards for $100 and more per treatment session to retain their youthful looks.

The success of the Salon Facial Toning Machine in revitalizing aging skin led Lois to design and develop a hand-held unit so that the average woman or man could afford these treatments in the privacy and convenience of their own homes, at a fraction of the cost that you would pay in one of those exclusive salons.  Add to this the portability of the unit and you can take it anywhere and have your own facial toning session at any time.  Based on the utilization of micro current technology, the LYC Classic Toning Unit sends mild pulsating currents to the facial muscles, exercising it by contracting and relaxing each designated muscle.  Lois herself continues to use the machine at least 3 or 4 times a week to help maintain her youthful appearance without undergoing surgery or various injections.

With her extensive background in marketing, Lois continues to market the LYC Classic Toning Unit through the tried and tested method of Network Marketing, a decision which has been highly successful.  Her “people first” philosophy is giving thousands of Distributors an opportunity to not only look great themselves, but to help others develop their own independent businesses through which they can better their lives and increase their incomes.

Throughout her years in the cosmetic industry, Lois has received many awards for her dedication, both to the business and the community.  In 1984 she received the Susan B Anthony Award, a statewide recognition as Stockton’s Outstanding Woman in Business.  She has given her time to many charitable boards, including the United Way, the Womens’ Center, the Family Service Agency, Grace United Methodist Church, the University of the Pacific Alumni and the Easter Seals.

Lois has always been a proponent of maintaining good health through proper food supplementation.  In 1995, she discovered the amazing fruit, Noni, and was amazed to find that doctors who have researched this wonder-food, Morinda Citrifolia, found that the fruit helps to immunize a person against aging, pain and disease.  She is proud to have the Noni drink as an integral part of the LYC Classic product line.

Lois believes that much of her success in the business has been due to her two sons, David and Victor, along with the constant encouragement of her husband, Skipper.  David, the chemist, has continued to revise and develop the unique and effective cosmetic line, which has been the key to the benefits derived from using the products on a daily basis.

At 82 years young, Lois Yee wishes to continue motivating, inspiring and encouraging her family, friends and the thousands of Distributors in the LYC Classic business, sharing the dream that anyone can “achieve whatever your mind can conceive”.
